In the past six months, abrasives supplier Swift & Whitmore Ltd have expanding its group of companies, acquiring TWO well established abrasive businesses, now being the area's largest supplier of abrasive products, covering all industries.
In the latter part of 2013, Swift & Whitmore acquired Northern Abrasives, based in Urmston Manchester. Although part of the group, Northern operates as a separate entity and adds a vat amount of additional products an services on top of the robust abrasive products that are already in Swift & Whitmore's portfolio. With its inception in 1973, Northern abrasives have become a key supplier to some of the largest manufacturing firms in the UK, also expanding its premises to Stoke, to more actively service the Pottery and Ceramic industries.

In January, the company also acquired Bonded Abrasives, expanding the site in Tipton. Established in 1973, the company has over 35 years experience in the supply of abrasive products, and have an excellent reputation for there quality products, including grinding stones, hand rubbing blocks and fibre-backed silicon carbide discs. They also hold extensive stocks compatible with all leading grinding machines including Errut, Terrco and Ellis.
This acquisition has not only expanded Swift & Whitmore's product base, but has also created FIVE new jobs at their expanded site in Tipton!
